Hardening Gas Atmospheres

Nitrogen can be blended with methanol or other enriching gases at the furnace to provide superior atmosphere control versus endothermic gases to help you achieve consistent part quality, operational cost savings, significant increases in productivity and more efficient use of furnace time. Accurate control of the carburizing potential can be provided by the Air Products Accelerated Carburizing System.

Activated Carburizing System

This system offers an alternative to conventional endothermic atmospheres and vacuum carburizing. Our novel, non-thermal electric discharge (cold plasma) method activates the non-flammable, low percentage hydrocarbon in nitrogen during furnace injection. This method can eliminate internal oxidation defects that often occur in endo-carburized steel parts, as well as improve microhardness profile and increase effective case depth.
